Psychotherapy and Counselling in Skipton, Bingley and Leeds.

The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Could you benefit from making space to take some time-out?

As a counsellor in Leeds, Bingley and Skipton, I offer a safe place where you may choose to:

  • Explore your thoughts and feelings.
  • Achieve a better understanding of current concerns in the context of your past and present experience.
  • Develop better self-awareness, self-acceptance and with it the strength to make changes and move forward.

I am a fully qualified, professional psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist (BACP Registered).
I provide counselling and greater depth psychotherapy in North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire from rooms in Skipton, Bingley (near Bradford) and Leeds.

I have worked in a variety of settings including NHS in Bradford, higher education in Skipton and private practice with young people from the age of sixteen, and adults of all ages. I have experience of counselling with people on the Autistic Spectrum, people with disabilities and from diverse cultures. I have a breadth of experience, knowledge and understanding which I use to enable clients to talk about and find a way to understand and address a wide range of issues.

As a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, I have skills in working with clients who experience anxiety, low mood, depression, low self-esteem, and have difficulty coping with bereavement and relationship problems. My philosophy recognises that a person’s past experience and learning can often be implicated in present-day conflict, complexity and challenge in functioning.

My working approach seeks to support you to feel stronger through careful, respectful and collaborative co-working. I believe that you are the expert on how you feel and what you experience. My philosophical position is one of not being an expert in the room. My method perceives you as a whole person (mind, body and spirit) in the context of your unique cultural, social and relational experience. Alongside talking about your thoughts and emotions, I may also encourage you to share what you sense physically. We may explore your beliefs, patterns in relationships and the influence of past experience to support your self-awareness. I am careful to work with you at a pace that you find comfortable.

Therapy is helpful for people who experience psychological difficulties including:
  • Depression.
  • Stress.
  • Anxiety.

  • Redundancy.
  • Issues of esteem.
